From Sacred Memories to a Future of Possibilities
In 1899, at what was then the bustling center of Jewish and urban life in Seattle, nine members met to imagine a new congregation based on the principles of liberal Judaism. Since then, Temple has held the sacred memories of generations of families, created – and nurtured – by a strong sense of connection to each other and our faith.
Beyond our members, Temple has been a constant presence in Seattle’s greater Jewish community, a place where we gather in times of learning, celebration, and sorrow.
Since October 7th, Temple’s moral role has become even more prominent — and more necessary – as we have welcomed those coming through our doors for the first time, or the first-in-a-long time, for connection and community.
From the young couple exploring Judaism, to the toddler making their first friend; from the great-grandchild of a founding family becoming a Bat Mitzvah, to the newcomer seeking community; and from teen leaders organizing a food drive to active seniors sharing a nosh and discussion…
